Rajnigandha Rhapsody

IMG_3525IMG_3530 IMG_3526 When in season, I always had vase full of these tuberose stalks at home in India. Today is the first time I found them here in TO.

Self control has never been my forte, especially when it comes to my favorite flowers – Rajnigandha. So they had to come home with me and get snug in my pink vase.

Don’t they look exotic with my statue of Lakshmi? I am so obsessed with Rajnigandha, that for my wedding (which was a traditional Bengali one), I had instructed the florist to do the decorations only with these fragrant flowers and red roses. I wouldn’t have it any other way!
IMG_3521Thankfully it was a monsoon wedding which meant Rajnigandha flowers were in plenty then.

    same here Pree...amar jan e bie tobuo Dada special order die Bangalore theke rajanigandha nie giechilo. ki bhalo gandho, amar maa akta kalo kunjo te ki sundor alpona design kore rekheche ote khali rajonigandha rakhe.kije bhalo dakhay ki bolbo.

    Looks like Toronto is a haven for Indians.Now how did you manage those fragrant flowers? I also love Rajnigandha, the goddess statue is divine.

    Rajanigandha always reminds me of black-n-white Bengali movies. Remember how the hero always took Rajanigandha to the heroine's father's house...and stood by the door to listen to the heroine finish a song on her piano?
    That's what it reminds me of.
    Wish I could get some DownUnder :(

    my mum grew rajnigandha in our terrace and it bloomed so beautifully..but alas one harsh winter, it died!!!
