And a homegrown tangerine dropped in too to join the party.

Silver, green, purple may not be the traditional Holiday colors! But then, I was never a stickler for traditions. Not when I have a few colors bursting to be shown off this December.

  4. Hi Pree. I need some help finding microwave recipes for the Bong palate. My dad and I recently decided to eschew the wok and the open flames for the efficiency and healthiness of the microwave. Unfortunately, it seems I have to go on a cookbook buying binge since I can't seem to find a blog dedicated to Bengali food recipes for the m-oven.
Can you help direct me to any such blogs, please? I'll be very, very grateful.
Your mishti puloa looked fantastic, by the way. :)

  5. @trojanwalls, I probably belong to the school of cooks whose microwave cooking is limited to the occasional pulao and paturi. I am not sure if there are any Blogs on Bengali recipes done in the microwave. But I am sure you will find something if you Google.

  7. When I was moving cities in India and did not have the gas connection immediately, I cooked keema-matar, chicken curry, etc. in the microwave for a few days. Try and experiment. I am sure you will hit the jackpot. Dals, etc. can be cooked in the microwave if you soak them in hot water and then cook. Modern day microwaves also have the grill, bake options and you can do meat, veggies, fish if you want to. Sorry but I only have maybe a few recipes on my Blog.

  8. @Pree. No, that was really helpful. Again, thanks. I guess it's best that I have to learn the hard way. It'll make me prouder of the eventual results. =D

  10. I recently was searching for desi recipes on the net. I was surprised not to find your site using the search engines! May be you should try some SEO tricks. Your blog is too good not to feature in the top 20 desi chefs' blogs

  11. Raja with four dots, educate me - what are SEO tricks?

    P.S. I am not a chef. I am a homecook. ;-)

  12. You'll figure out yourself.
I've used a few of your recipes before and they turned out really well. But I didn't cook for a whole year, and didn't stop by your blog for a long time.

btw, I'm the same Raja from here: http://indrajit.wordpress.com/
