The Warli Artist Within

Okay, so I can do Warli too. My first time on this  24 centimeter galvanized steel plant pot from Ikea.

I hand-painted Warli motifs with Chrome Black (acrylic color) on this planter.

Here are some more details.

IMG_2742 My Peace Lily looks happy to get this painted pot.
IMG_2741I am not sure if black looks good on silver, maybe I should have used red. Another day, hopefully.

Mandala Madness

I kept staring at it for sometime. It stared back at me. I wondered why had I picked this ugly piece of (Hallare) tea light holder from Ikea two years ago. Then I had liked it.

Today a little ornamental painting on it would at least give it a facelift. Or so I thought.

Armed with my number zero paintbrush, I mixed together Titanium white and Ochre yellow and painted these Mandala-inspired motifs around the aluminum candle dishes.

IMG_2612Mandala is a Sanskrit word which means “circle”. In Buddhist and Hindu art forms, Mandala have spiritual and ritual significance. For me it was enough inspiration to spend a Sunday afternoon doing something eclectic.

IMG_2622IMG_2620IMG_2621 P thought it looked “cute”. But then he is biased about his wife.

I’d want to know from you what you think of my little DIY. You know it, don’t you, that your opinion always matters to me…

I am joining Patty’s Weekend Wrap Up Party Week Five with my post. Go check her new post now, its gorgeous.
